Trying to upgrade my pc.
I currently have a amd64 dual core
with 4 GB of Ram witn onboard video
I have installed, Ubuntu 10.10 and I am not
going into 11.04 because I like compiz and gnome.
But........
currently I am shopping around for a new build
want to get something more powerful.
some kind of gaming machine.
I bought a gtx295 video card very cheap
so i'm building around that.
I continue seeing that linux has more support for amd than intel
and plus amd is at a great price.
but does linux have support for a 6core proc.
a gtx295 video card and 8 GB of RAM?
This is what I want to build. but if Linux does not have the support
I need. then I'll settle for a quad core.
What about overclocking?
can I overclock a 6 core on ubuntu 10.10
or another linux distro?
can I play sid meier's civilization V with out losing features?
what type of limitations will I enconter with a powerful system like that and linux?
I would like to leave the clutches of windows...
Can anyone help?

Linux/Unix has support for a wide range of microprocessors such as Intel, AMD, RISC, IA-64, and several others.
The best processor is the one you can afford.
