When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

Hello,

A week ago my computer was infected with the Peltpox.a trojan. My laptop is:

Compaq Presario CQ50
running windows vista sp1 32 bit
AMD Turion Dual-Core RM-70 2.00 ghz

So far the symptoms of this are:
Disabled Avira Antivirus and ignored my request to quarantine the infected file (it allowed access)
Redirects search engine links
Changed all of my files to hidden and resets folder options to "do not show hidden files" on reboot.
messages pop up with "critical hard drive error" etc.
installed windows vista recovery shortcut on my desktop and a bogus system scan window pops up even in safe mode.

This seems like a pretty new trojan, as there is limited info on it out there. I have tried to fix this on my own with no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
