Hi I know what I want as far as hardware is concerned but I'm not sure about the brand. I have an hp laptop now that is about 3 years old and seems to be acting strange anymore and it gets pretty hot at times. I've read things about hp getting hot and other problems. I've also read problems with Dell etc.

Seems sometimes it matters which model it is. Anyway if anyone has some advice on a good brand then I go from there.

Thanks

First when was the last time that you cleaned out the vents on your lap top?

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

I clean the dust out every 3 months or so. It's been this way since new just now it seems to be acting up. I'm wanting a new one anyway with a faster processor and a better graphic card as this always seem to pause even when just scrolling down the screen on webpages. But thanks for the suggestion.

I really just want a new faster one.

I would start looking around for a Toshiba laptop, they make some high quality laptops.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I didn't fill out the form because I know what I want in it for hardware. I'm looking more for what brand would be a good one. Maybe they are all pretty much the same?

Thanks, do you work for toshiba? The reason I ask is from reading other threads you always say toshiba. Or do you have other reasons?

Maybe some specs would help. The few I have configured online for around $800 have an intel next gen core i5, a 7200 rpm drive and a dedicated graphic chip. That is main things as memory etc. can be easily configured also.

What are you willing to spend for the new lap top that is what I mean by budget. Not the kind of lap top. I am asking for the price range say from 1000 to 1500 dollars something like that.

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

Oh sorry I already posted the ones I configured online came out around $800 so that is pretty much my budget. The one I have now only cost $400 when I got it.

Thanks

I'm sorry, what does that have to do with price of tea in china? :P I can see when it comes to specs but I all ready know the specs I want I'm asking about what brand is better. I guess maybe you can suggest something with less specs that will do just as much. I'll be doing mostly the web, I try all kinds of utilities and software, remote control of friends and families computers, watch videos, tether my smart phone to it etc. I really do all kinds of different things with my computer.

Thanks again
