Anyways I have Windows XP Professionals.

Well this thread should have been moved to the Windows XP section.

If your using WinXP then use Defraggler its quite good and its free.

Maybe, Keith?

It could stand in here as a lesson to others, that just Post in the first available Section, to be specific on just which Operating System they have, to expect honest, truthful, helpful Advice?

I am sure no one that gives Advice would ever want to give wrong Advice through a mix up in OS's due to Posting in the wrong Section.

Just my feelings.

In my experience the defragmention utility provided by Windows is not the best. I would recommend getting a third-party defragger.

I disagree there.....

I think the Windows 98se defrag program IS MUCH BETTER than anything else to be honest (For 98se that is)

:hysterical:

Sorry to laugh, but this is a particularly mote point about WIN98SE.

I agree with Keithuk to disagree.

Back in those days defrag was a critical part of owning a WIN98SE OS. It would fragment just by looking at it. Just like today, everyone had their favourite Defrag Program, but not one of them could ever stop the regular format and reinstall we all went through. Some of us went to elaborate measures to make it easier, in my case, I always Partitioned my HDD into two and had a File on the sewcond one containing WIN98SE Install Disk and all Drivers needed for it. All other Data I wanted was copied inro Files on the second Partition as it happened, with current just before Reformat.

What a wonderful System it was besides that.
