Good Morning

this morning I found a new computer attached to my wireless internet for my house the question I have is how do I disconnect this computer and also what more Can I do to make the connection more secure. Yes I did use the encryption lock with the wireless modem. I am not a hardware novice but neither am I a hardware geek. any help would be appreciated. Elmer

Change your encryption key. Turn your router Off when your not using it.

Sorry it has taken so long to reply. no everything is not ok now. I have manueley pushed the reset button on the wireless router but now my computer does not want to recognize the router as being attached. it does work fine when connected through just the cable modem. I have inserted the setup disk that came with the wireless but it does not detect an internet connection and will not allow me to go forward. so now I am lost as to where to go next any suggestions would be helpful Thank You Elmer

Have you tried connecting to the router with an Ethernet Cable?

Yes my main computer is with an ethernet cable.

Try and ping the router. Go to the command prompt and type Ping 192.168.1.1 and see if the computer can communicate with the router. Also please list the following
Make and model of computer

Make and model of Router

Approximate Distance From the router the PC is if its a wireless connection

What type of internet you have (Dsl, Cable, T-1,etc..)
Lastly
Please download MiniToolBox To your desk top and run it.

Checkmark following checkboxes:

• Report IE Proxy Settings
• List content of Hosts
• List IP configuration
• List last 10 Event Viewer log
• List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and post the result (Result.txt).

The result.txt should appear when the program completes and it should exit. You can then copy and past the contents of the log into your response on the Networking forums. If the log does not automatically appear it should be on your desktop or in the folder the file was downloaded to.
