When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

I have a netbook with windows xp, and recently I did a system restore and now my browser appears to be hijacked. Both Mozilla and Firefox keep forwarding my searches to a site called ghf.mobi and it keeps wanting me to download some file. I have AVG, but it did not detect this threat. Also I have the lavasoft spyware program and it did not detect it either. I tried getting hijack or any other spyware program, but it won't let me download or save anything. It won't let me get google chrome or do a windows update. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this thing? It is so frustrating and annoying!!

restart in Safe Mode with Network Support (F8 at startup)

Go to download.com
get Malwarebytes, Spybot Search & Destroy, and Ad-Aware
Install Malwarebytes & Spybot
Get the updates & run them
Go to control panel, Internet Options, and remove home page, then click "connections" tab and make sure proxy is not enabled under the Lan Settings button

Reboot & do it again in normal mode.

Then install Ad-Aware and run it too.

May have to get these programs on a thumb drive from a working computer first.

Okay so I downloaded and ran all those programs and did what you said but no luck removing it.every time I run the programs it tells me it finds it and removes it but once it reboots and I run the scan again it finds the same hijack trojan. When i try to get on a web site it still forwards my searches and now its not letting me on line at all. Also a pop-up comes up after a few min and says it will shut down my computer after 30 seconds and it does.I'm so desperate to get this fixed as I work online and need my computer asap.thanks for your help
