My computer was infected by the XP Total Security virus but I was able to remove (I think) by using Malwarebytes in Safe mode. Now, my programs will not run> When I try to open them, the "open file with" dialog box opens or I get an .exe error. Please help.

Try fixing the exefile associations.

You can find fixes for different file types HERE.

Let me know if this helps.

Sorry for the late reply. That helped but we got the virus again. I think we stopped it before it got as many programs infected as last time but we had it nonetheless. Is there anything else I can do?

If you still have an infection, you should post it in the "Am I Infected?" forum.

Hi! I also ran Malwarebytes & it seemed to have removed the virus but now I can't access my programs or files. I know the programs are still there because when I go to add or remove programs they are all in there. Help please! thank you.
