when i star t up my laptop an error messages appears "an unauthorized change was made to windows".
i close the message window. After that sometime the computer works apparently normally even if the pop up windows with the error message keeps appearing. Other times i have no desktop, no start etc so i cannod do pretty much anything except shut down and restart.
could u help

it is not happening any more. It did like that during the weekend every time but no more now.

I suggest that you ensure that all critical Windows updates for your system...are installed.

error message still there....

Firefox wouldn't have anything to do with it. Have you seen this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931699 ?

Usually an issue with Windows activation. It's happened to me on a few customers pc's. Mostly when they are freshly formatted. Possibly a system restore could help.

If it was an activation issue the OP would receive a message saying the OS needs to be activated.
