spammer virus in my msn email account spam went out to all contacts in my msn contact folder

can anyone tell me what is going on with my msn email account. I just moved to a new home, unplugged all my computers and the next day my General manager asked me why I sent him viagra emails. Many other friends emailed me to let me know they got similar messages as well. I got on here to find beeping computer program but can't seem to locate it now that i am registered.
Can you help me, this is embarasing!

Please do not post private/personal information about you on any forum. Anyone, even the bag guys who steal identities can view your topic and use the information within for unsavory reasons. Email addresses can also be harvested by bots and placed on spam lists. I have removed that information to prevent that from happening.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Posting both your home phone and email address is not a wise idea.
That is inviting trouble and I have requested that the Mods remove that info.

I would suspect that yor system is infected.
What Antivirus and malware programs are you using?
In the beginning there was the command line.

The first thing to do is change the password on your email account. You may or may not be infected but that should stop the spambot behaviour.

You will need to change the user name for your e-mail as well. Once the e-mail address has been compromised, changing the password won't uncompromise it. I had my e-mail address compromised when I didn't even HAVE a computer.

Also, you may be infected as well. Consequently, I am moving this topic to the Am I Infected forum for you.
