When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

I got a different screen instead of the reduce one in the instructions. The above link is what I ended up with.
Did this work correctly?

Thanks.

With your computer being so old, I would head on over to http://www.seagate.com and download the Seagate Tools to test your drive out.

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

I can't get that to run at all, even in safe mode.
I suspect you're not going to tell me anything good now.

You need to download the DOS Version burn it to a CD and boot to it from the boot menu for your computer.

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

Well I guess I'm done. I can't burn a CD from this computer and I can't burn one from work either (not allowed).

So thanks for the help to date. I guess I'm back to throwing it out the window.

There was not one issue on here until I got that damn virus. Everything was fine.

Do you have a friends computer you can use?

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

I will try that.
I won't give up.
I'm just extremely frustrated at this point. I've been without a computer for 8 days.
Will try tomorrow and post what I can.
Thanks again for the help.

For now, the computer gets a reprieve from the window.
:smash:

Update: I downloaded the DOS version of Seagate to a CD and then realized the CD drive in this computer hasn't worked for a while (I had forgotten). I'm going to purchase a flash drive and try that instead.
I have been faithfully running Malwarebytes but the delayed write file windows are getting worse (but seem to revolve alot around Adaware & anything I try to do on the internet). Should I unintall Adaware? The redirect on the internet is crazy too. I have to go back to my history to get to this site.
I wish there was an easy fix to this mess!
Please don't close this thread. I'm trying but have avoided the computer for the last few days because I'm so annoyed.
Hope to have the results from Seagate in the next few days.
Thanks for your help so far and now your patience.
KathVT

P.S. I was just reading threads and I'm also having the exact same problem as "Zooter" is having with Windows Security and the red shield white x issue. Tried a bazillion times & finally got windows security to download in safe mode but it still didn't fix the issue.

And does it help to tell you that Spybot is constantly finding the following URL: http//click . mygeek . com/presult.jsp? partner and it is identified as Virtumonde ?(my question mark to the question)

Since you are being helped in the Malware Removal forum, I am closing this topic to avoid confusion.
regards, Elise
