Firstly, would like to say hello to the people who frequent this forum, I'm a newbie and would love help.

Anyway, recently I purchased a HTPC. What I discovered with this HTPC is that whenever it tries to connect to my home network router, the whole network will 'shut down' and every device, be it my iPhone, iPod, Android phone or laptop will disconnect from the router and it will not connect, no matter how many times you prod it to.

I would appreciate any assistance regarding this issue..

Thanks in advance!

When you say 'attempt to connect' does the HTPC actually gain a connection to the network?

The first thing that comes to mind is a faulty network adapter in some kind of broadcast storm loop.

Some more specifics on the make/model of your HTPC and network setup / router type would be helpful.
