VMware player with open Suse 11.4 installed on top of Windows 7 Will this work?

Hi all,
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop running Windows 7 with 4 gigs of ram, a single hard drive with 260 gigs left on it. I'd like to install VMware player and then run Open Suse 11.4 in that. Will this work with my current configuration? Would a second hard drive be necessary for this to work if I didn't want to reformat my current hard drive? Thanks. And feel free to move this if it's in the wrong place.

It will work well just remember you have to take into consideration the host computers memory when setting up memory for the VM.

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

Cool. how then do you suggest I go about doing it? I want to make sure that the partition that has Win 7 doesn't get overwritten by Suse during the installation process.

VM Ware is a virtual machine, so it will not get over written.

I always thought that in order to get a virtual machine running, you have to take hard drive space and ram from the host OS. is that not true? and on another note, is that true too that virtualized Linux sucks? My friend and her boyfriend seem to think so. What is your thought?
