Can anyone help me. I don't know how to back up my files on the hard drive since I can't get into Windows. I really need these files. I know how to reboot from CD but it will erase my hard drive w/o letting me back up first. Vista is a major pain in my side.

...and...why do you now determine...that you need to back up your system? What's wrong with it?
You can always remove the hard drive...connect it as a secondary drive on another system...and move files to another drive/partition, etc.
OTOH...if you have any idea that malware is your source problem...I would be careful about what files I would move before cleaning the system or protecting the second system properly.

Can you access CMD through the repair function of your recovery media? Have you allowed start up repair to try and fix the issue?
