Recovering from Windows Recovery Folders empty and e-mail problem

I had a problem with Windows Recover last week. I found the Remove Windows Recovery (Uninstall Guide) at your site and followed the instructions including unhide.exe. Everything seemed to be back to normal but I have uncovered a couple of problems.
Problem1
Before using the unhide.exe the Start> All Programs showed empty. Now it shows programs but those folders are empty. I ran unhide.exe a second time but that did not fix the problem. I am guessing, but I would say over 50% of the folders show empty.
Problem2
Spell checker in MS Express is in French. Went to Options and there are no other options in the pull down window. French is the only choice.
Any help you can suggest would be appreciated.

Go to Start> Run and type in or copy and paste regsvr32 /i shell32.dll and then click OK.
Restart your computer.
The second problem.
When you wrote that you went to options are you referring to the Regional and Language Options in the Control Panel?

Do you have Microsoft Office 2007 or Microsoft Office 2010 installed? The issue you describe crops up in Outlook Express after installing Office 2007 or 2010.
Since Outlook Express does not have a spell checker, it relies on spell check installed by MS Office
Programs.
If you had a previous version of Office and upgraded OR if you did not have a previous version and installed 2007 or 2010 after your recovery, the new 2007/2010 files are incompatible with Outlook Express.
Microsoft is aware of the issue but has no plans to correct it. If you want to use spell check with OE, you will have to
1) uninstall Office 2007/2010 and go back to a previous version
OR
2) install a third-party spell check for use with Outlook Express. This is the better option, especially if you purchased Office 2007/2010. You don't want to uninstall it and end up wasting your money after paying for it.
Spell checker for OE 2.1 is available for download HERE http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2952
Microsoft article about the issue includes this information:
Quote
When you upgrade an earlier version of Office to a 2007 Office system or Office 2010, the old spelling checker files are removed for the following languages:
English
Spanish
German

And from AnswersThatWork-Outlook Express spell check is French after Office 2007 install (the info page is a .pdf document, click the red link to view the document)

Tried the regsvr32 /i shell32.dll suggestion from dc3 and still had the problem.
Also ran the new unhide.exe mentioned by Broni and that did not help either.
Any other suggestions??
Problem 2
Queen-Evie was correct. Problem was always there I just never noticed the issue before. I will dowmload one of the spell checkers on that one...Thanks for the help.

Before finding the BC Removal Tool, I ran a comprehensive scans using Norton 360 and SUPER antispyware.I also did some of my desktop ICONS manually, right click> properties> uncheck hide.
Is there a way to do this manually. I have looked around but I don't see a way to do it using properties. I have the time if it gets me back to normal.

Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2
64-bit users go HERE
- Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
- Vista\Win 7 users:: Right click on SystemLook.exe, click Run As Administrator
- Copy the content of the following box into the main textfield:
:dir %Temp%\smtmp /s
- Click the Look button to start the scan.
- When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.

I download, double click and the window appears with Look and Exit. I select Look and get a Script Error, Nothing happens form that point.
The 64 bit refers to my Web Browser correct?

However, if you have 64-bit browser, you must have 64-bit Windows.
Which version did you download?
Did you:
Vista\Win 7 users:: Right click on SystemLook.exe, click Run As Administrator

My system is Windows XP SP3 not Vista\Win 7 users:.
I believe my system is 128 bits.
When I download the 64bit Systemlook and double click the file I get this error...SystemLook_x64(6).exe is not a valid Win32 application
When I download from Mirrow 1 or 2, double click the file and the window appears with Look and Exit. I select Look and get a (Script required!) Error.
Nothing happens from that point.

You downloaded correct SystemLook version from Mirrow 1 or 2
What you forgot was to paste my script:
:dir %Temp%\smtmp /s
into textfield.
Always read instructions very carefully.
