BleepingComputer.com: Can hardware store & pass on malware to another computer?

I had a hacked computer, i took it off my network & put a brand new computer in its place, could the external hardware have stored any of the infections & passed them on to my brand new computer?
Heres a list of the old (possibly infected) external hardware i reused on my brand new computer.

A monitor.
A standard keyboard.
A standard mouse.
A cheap headset.
The router.

Also what about an original windows vista dvd disk, the disk was used many times in the hacked computer, in a dvd rw drive, could malware have been burnt on to that dvd disk to pass on the infection to other computers that read from or install windows from the disk?

Your only concern is a router.
Routers can get infected and thus making your computer visible to the outside world.

Your best course of action would be to reset router.

Turn the computer off.

On your router, you'll find a pinhole marked "Reset".
Keep pushing the hole, using a pencil, or a paperclip until all lights briefly come off and on.
NOTE. Simple router disconnecting from a power source will NOT do.
Restart computer and check for redirections.

NOTE. You may need to re-check your router security settings, as described HERE

I cant remember if i reset the router or just disconnected it from the power & restarted it, could you tell me how to check for redirections please?
