BleepingComputer.com: Windows XP updates blocked

I can't get Windows XP updates as I think something in IE is blocking it. I had to remove firefox because it was having problems. I am now using Safari to browse the web. I have removed several virus with several anti-malware programs (super-antivirus, malware bytes, combofix). Is there any other way to fix this PC or is reloading Windows XP my only option?

As I understand it, Safari doesn't use DirectX which is necessary to access Microsoft updates and downloads. Try using Internet Explorer to get your updates. Or you can reinstall Firefox. This may resolve this part of your problems.

The reason that Hamluis moved this topic to the Am I Infected forum is because he saw the same thing that I did regarding the infection/s that you are dealing with. I suspect that you may still be infected and would suggest that you follow the instructions in This Guide starting at Step 6.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it HERE Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to try to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
