When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

I noticed that my laptop with Windows XP was having trouble with Google. Today I ran a google search and started getting redirected to pay sites. I ran malwarebytes and it showed one infection which I selected to fix. I restarted and got a "Windows XP Security Alarm". I ignored this and ran Spybot. While running Spybot, my icons on the desktop began to disappear, then the computer shut down completely. Now I have only the Recycle Bin and Internet Explorer on my desktop and under "all programs" on the start menu, everything except my word processing program is gone. Have I lost most of my OS?
