No start up Black Screen turn on computer can't do anything (F8,etc.)

Have a Sony Vaio VGC-RA820G Model PCV-A11L
Just getting a black screen,the vaio screen comes up and the intel inside then it goes black Have windows home xp
Any help.

What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?

Nothing really, it seems that it was getting slower. I guess that it is either old or just worn out, the only thing is that all my dwg. files are on it. I just put in a cd of XP and it says press any key to boot from disk but it seems that the keyboard is not working.
