Hello, Ok I am having a very frustrating problem. I brought my computer with me to Senegal (I am a Peace Corps volunteer) and now i am having major problems with it. I will be working on my computer when all of the sudden it stops responding. I can move the mouse but none of the programs respond. When I try to control+alt+delete I get a message that says "Logon process has failed to create the security options dialog - Failure-Security options" I then have to manually shut down my computer. Lately it has gotten much worse and it will freeze while it has only been running for a few minutes. I also tried to run a Primary Hard Disk Self Test and I got the message "Hard Disk Test Failed Hard Disk 1 full (305). I do not know what this means. My computer works alright in Safe Mode. At first I thought my hard drive might be overheating due to the extreme temperatures we have in Senegal, but wouldn't it also be affect in Safe Mode? I thought maybe there was a virus so I tried to scan with ESET, nothing came up, with AVG it found a few things and quarantined them, and Malwarebytes didn't find anything. However, I have only been able to scan in Safe Mode because my computer freezes in regular mode. Does anyone know what might be happening? I'm very upset because I'm afraid I might have to buy another computer and to get it all the way here is a pain and expensive. If anyone has ANY ideas I would greatly appreciate them. Thank you!!!

Yes, it is an HP. So do I have to delete stuff from my hard drive? how do I make more room on the hard drive? Is the freezing of Windows a normal behavior for a full hard drive?

Since you can boot in safe mode, try to run a disk cleanup (found it your start menu > programs > accessories > system tools. I use ccleaner, just stay away from the registry option of it.

Also you can try to use ATF Cleaner:

I ran the cleaner and all it did was get rid of my hibernate feature. I was thinking of defragmenting it, but it won't run in safe mode. Any other suggestions? Thanks for your help!
