Hello Computer HOPE ;D

I first of all thank you for existing as a computer help website. I have been searching google for hours trying to fix this problem I have. My Desktop (2nd Floor) which has a Windows XP operating system x86 has a DLink Airplus G DWL G120 wireless USB adapter installed (http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=268). The router that's inside the house is a Cisco Linksys E4200 (1st Floor) (http://homestore.cisco.com/en-us/Routers/Linksys-E4200-MaximumPerformance-Wirelessn-router_stcVVproductId122703236VVcatId551966VVviewprod.htm).

I'm knowledgeable of how to use a windows system to some degree. My DLink is picking up wireless signals from majority of the houses around the neighborhood but is not picking up the connection inside the house. All the laptops (4) in the house are connected to the Linksys. My goal is to be able to connect the two desktops running on XP to the Linksys as well. Please help if you can.

Thanks in advance

Is the Wireless Router broadcasting its SSID?

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

I'm sure it is because I have a Name set for it and a password and all of the laptops in the house are connected to it. But maybe i'm not understanding what you mean. If i'm not understanding can you please explain it to me and how I would check?

The SSID is the name you gave your router as an wireless device. Can you show me a list of networks that is being picked up?

Are you using the wireless devices tools for detecting the wifi, or are you using Windows Wirless Zero Config?

I'm just clicking on the lower right icon on the toolbar to "View Wireless Networks" and then I'm just refreshing over and over again and it's not showing up

Can you try moving the desktop that you are having issues with closer to the router?

I cannot. The laptop i'm using right now is next to the desktop on the second floor and it's getting perfect internet. Is there a reason for moving it closer?

Try shutting the lap top off. Then see if the desktop can get a signal?

What other kinds of things are around your desktop? Can you take a picture?

Try changing the wireless channel on the linksys. I had a similar issue last week, one laptop connects and another not. Downloaded wireleaa adapter updates, still no joy. Changed network channel from 13 to 7 and it worked! I didn't try changing channels back - life's too short!
