Vista Home Premium 2007
AMD Athlon 7550 Dual-Core Processor 2.50 GHz
Dual Compaq Q1859 19" LCD's
Avast antivirus

I've been doing some large photo editing (up to 100mb)and having some long wait time and "program not responding" issues. I did the Error-checking procedure and deleted some large files I don't need.. Any other suggestions?

What program gives you "program not responding" issues?

Opening the "E" drive, is quite slow. It takes about 5 minutes for the thumbnails to appear. I'm using PhotoStudio 5.5 snd sometimes GIMP.

Since you have some large files there, disable preview: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-thumbnail-previews-in-windows-vista-explorer/
