First Build- Video Production

Hey guys, new member here. There seems to be a lot of knowledgeable techies in here so I figured I could ask for some help.

I'm really in to video production as well as photography and I figured I needed to step up my hardware. My current laptop isn't all that great, it's practically impossible to run Adobe CS5 Premiere which I really use to edit my videos. I was considering buying a either a refurbished/brand new iMac, but I would rather have a PC that I can always upgrade. With some research, this is what I've come up with so far. Feel free to bash on me if this set-up looks foolish, I'm a noob <_<

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban
MOBO: ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 AM3 AMD 890GX
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM
VIDEO: EVGA 01G-P3-1556-KR GeForce GTX 550 Ti
POWER: CORSAIR GS800 800W
MEMORY: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

I'm pretty sure I'll be running Windows 7. I also didn't know exactly how much ram I needed, any input on that would help!

Random stuff.

A 2600K CPU will be about 25% faster than an AMD 1090T. Adobe has always preferred Intel, still does.

8 gigs of RAM should get you started.

Go to Adobe's site and verify that the GTX 550 Ti supports Premiere CS5. CUDA can speed up the workflow.

Not sure whether having 2 hard drives (one for output files) might work faster, just a thought.

Also a second hard drive can be a good backup for your files.
