Hi - I hope this is the right forum; new at this and wasn't sure. My laptop was infected with XP Security 2010. After reading several sites I picked bleeping computer to help. I downloaded and ran malwarebytes; carefully following all the directions. No other software (except XP Security 2010) was running. I let it reboot when it needed to and that is when the problems started. The malware is gone, but when the reboot finished, the malware bytes software did not re-start and I could not restart it from the desktop icon. I got the standard windows dialog asking what program should be used to open the file.
Next I noticed I could not connect to the internet as my wireless configuration was wiped out. Then discovered none of the desktop icons worked.
How do I fix this and are there other issues like it that I should be looking for?
Thanks for any assistance you can provide!

Update - to my issue!! It is worse than I realized. I cannot open most programs or files, including Add/Remove Software from the Control Panel. Someting appears to be corrupted but I have not been able to identify what it is.
Please Help!
