Hi all.

I am going to apply as a computer repair technician at Geek Squad.

And I have a couple of questions:

What is the interview like?

What questions is asked on the quiz about computer knowledge?

In all honesty, what do you have to know?

I have a lot of knowledge here:

I know Windows inside and out.

I know a lot about repairing/upgrading hardware/software.

I know Linux pretty good. But I don't know Mac, is this okay? Is mac knowledge required?

I can easily hook up basic networks.

And just generally I am very good with computers.

So what do ya'll think? Am I able to get the job?

With the Geek Squad I would recommend knowing Windows XP Troubleshooting, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and have a decent amount of hardware troubleshooting, and I would definitely recommend doing some work on beefing up your Mac skills. Linux will not help you with the Geek Squad, because those people that usually run Linux know what they are doing on a computer, and generally do not go to Geek Squad for support.

If I buy an old mac, will playing around with it for 3 days be sufficient?

How much do they cost? Where could I buy one for under 150$ (preferably old and used)?

have you actually applied yet? part of the application is one of those skill/personality multiple choice tests. if they don't like the answers to the test they may not even look at your application.

@cryptodan I am sort of broke, even if it is junk I am pretty sure I can fix it. Can you post a link to a good mac to buy, all that I want is something I can learn mac os on.

@joggiwagga No I have not applied yet. In fact one thing that bothers me is when I try to apply online they want my social security number, is this safe to give away?
