Error Copying File or Folder unable to copy to a folder created on the server

Running server 2003, i have about six departments storing their information on the the server, these six departments have their own departmental folder on the server where they can store their own information, which is only able to be viewed by the employees of that specific department. employees are able to copy and/or save directly to their respective departmental folder. however one the departmental folder is not allowing the users to copy or save information to their departmental folder; keep getting the following message :"Error Copying File or Foldercannot copy -------:Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use."
i checked and double check all of the permissions still nothing. any help/assistance that can be given will be greatly appreciated..

try creating a file in that directory while logged into the server as an admin and see if it allows that.
My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

So you cannot even create a file in that share logged in locally as an administrator? That would be an inclination to me that the share has some how become corrupted.
My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

i am able to save a document/file as administrator (sorry about that) but the users of that folder cannot save/copy.. checked all the permissions and security.

Is it only one group having this issue? Try applying the permissions to the share and see if that fixes it. Can you post a screenshot of the security and permissions window?

All the necessary security and permissions have already being applied to the share already. would it not just be easier for me to delete the share folder and all of the individual folders, and recreate everything from scratch?

Do you have the ability to backup the data in those shares?

Hey cryptodan got through ended up restarting the server and taking owership of the folder. thank for your help..

Windows has a strict limit of 255 and so does other operating systems.
