After I experienced a fake 'spyware protection' on my pc (running winxp), after a lot of struggles (to execute any program, and my pc was randomly shutting off late in the scan) I ran Malwarebytes successfully and removed items which came up as trojans, and it comes up clean now.
However, now I can't do or access the following now:
1) No icons on the desktop, cannot right click on desktop either
2) Internet is connected (other programs working, skype etc), but IE, firefox browser cannot connect to any sites
3) Start menu, programs, has folders listed but each folder is empty
4) When I start computer in normal mode, User/Start Menu/Programs/Startup/desktop opens in notepad displaying the following message [.ShellClassInfo] LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll, -21787
I ran a hijackthis log, not sure if that would help, or if I should run a combofix. If you have any questions please let me know.
Thanks in advance
