BleepingComputer.com: Unable to install Opera browser

Hi hope you can help

I've used Opera browser in the past and wanted to use it again, however I cannot install it, got this message:

Failed to modify registry Software\Classes\.html\OpenWithProgIDs\Opera.HTML. Error code: 39

Browsing the net or Opera forums have not provided any help at all.

I'm running Win 7 Ultimate on an Acer desktop,

did you have opera before maybe its leftover key

that cause the problem....

try to go to the key and remove it and try again...

otherwise use some registry cleaning tools like ccleaner

than try again the installtion

I suspect admin user rights are needed to modify the registry. Try installing Opera as an Administrator. Not Limited User.

yes I used Opera in the past and I use C Cleaner monthly, I realise it's a registry problem but have no idea how to fix it, I have found people with the same problems on the 'net but the suggestions on using a piece of software called registry mechanic are beyond me, I don't know what to do once I installed this software, I'm the only user on this PC so administrator rights are not the cause.
