Hi - Today, I was visiting a couple pages on Paypal.com. I surfed away, and then needed to come back to Paypal.com. I wasn't able to get there however, as the browser would redirect me to Google.com. No matter what I do now, I'm always taken to the Google homepage. This is in Firefox4.01 and IE8. Is this some kind of virus? I ran MBAM, and it did not find anything. I'm not able to find this specific issue doing a search online or in these forums.

Thanks!
Tyson

Start Firefox (not computer) in Safe Mode. Same problem?

Are you using a proxy by any chance? Also, what anti-virus do you use?

Start Windows in Safe Mode: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/666-advanced-boot-options.html Same problem?

Same problem in Firefox Safe Mode. No proxy. I am using Microsoft Security Essentials for real time.

In Windows 7 Safe Mode there was no problem; Paypal.com loaded. After rebooting in normal mode, the problem is now gone! Does this thing come and go???

Not really sure what was causing it. I thought it might have been a program intercepting the traffic and redirecting you to Google (for whatever reason).

But it appears the answer is a classic. When in doubt, reboot. :)

Happy computing!
