BleepingComputer.com: Cas Latency and Timing Mix

Ok I got a crazy question but if it can be done it will look so cool.

I bought a Black CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB Cas Latency 8 Timing 8-8-8-24 and I was wondering if it's possible to use a Blue CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB Cas Latency 9 Timing 9-9-9-24?

I'm asking because I wanted to match my asrock P67 extreme4 mobo (Crazy I know! DON'T LAUGH) Would it work? how much speed would I lose

They should work fine, though not all the chips will run at the 9-9-9-24 timings (all memory will run the same speed as the slowest memory.. Occasionally if you mix voltages you run into a problem, but that wont be a issue here as both sets run at the same voltage.

So if it's going to run at it's slowest speed that means it's going to run as cas 9 timing 99924 right. If that's the case then it defeats the purpose of having cas 8 because I would lose that extra speed cas 8 offeres

you are correct, however, I sincerely doubt youd really notice a difference unless your running a lot of system tasking, particularly memory tasking programs. And what marginal slow down thered be, the improved multi tasking from more memory will likely overshadow it. Though, that being said, you get the best performance when all the ram is the exact same spec wise, and in my case, I wouldnt do it, because most of my computer cases have side windows and having 2 different shades of ram typically doesn't look good in my opinion.

Come on think about it black and blue mobo blue led. With a touch of blue and black memory in the sweetest order blk,Blu,blk,Blu. Oh and there's some red led fans in there to.. But if it Don't work I'll go all black just to get my speed. Because I do ALLOT of multi encoding (6 at a time while burning and that was with my old phenom 955) so I want the best speed.
