I'm running XP with sp2, 2.80 Ghz processor, 512Mb RAM, and use Panda Titanium anti-virus protection.
I've been getting this error message for quite a while but so far hitting OK hasn't had any effect and everything still seems to be working fine. However, since it's bound to cause a problem sooner or later I would appreciate it if someone could enlighten me as to why I might get this error. I think wmiprsve.exe is a native windows service but I'm not certain of it's function. Has anyone else encountered this error message? I've sent a plea for help regarding this problem to a couple tech sites and have had no luck getting an valid answer. The few responses that I have gotten were all pointing towards having a virus on my PC which I am sure is not the case. I have no idea what wmiprvse.exe does or if I even need it. I was hoping that somebody could offer some advice on how to eliminate this error at least steer me in the right direction.
The error occurs sporadically seemingly for no reason because I don't even have to be at the PC when it occurs. The exact message is:
Wmiprvse.exe -Application Error
The instruction at "0x7c91103c" referenced in memory could not be "written"

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on Cancel to debug the program.

Thanks,
JoeD

There is also a virus that is named similiarly the above links give info on it.

See Comments by Jason Tan at This Link.

I would also take a look in Event Viewer...for errors that might contribute clues. I'd look for the named process (wmiprvse.exe) as the source or contributor to listed errors.
