i have never posted anything on a forum before but thought that i would at least note my appreciation.

i read the comments on how to remove this virus and everything detailed was obviously what happened.

It was either not as simple or my know how but i struggled on.

luckily i have a second half working computer that i was able to access the internet and copy items on to a memory stick.

when i ran the anti malware which i already had installed it scanned for about 25 minutes and i left all the pop ups.

when i went to action the resuilts they were hidden by a pop up which i dragged away but this turned the computer off and i had to start all over again.

move the pop ups early on.

the virus would not allow me to update the anti malware either.

i could not access system restore either

i eventually after three hours of running avg and anti malware gave up.

when i turned the computer on the next day avg caught it immediately and quarantined it.

the whole thing throws you in to total panic.

once avg quaranined it i was able to update anti malware and install rkill.

i was then able to restore the system

these appear to have sorted the problem but some shortcuts had to be re-installed and outlook had to be re-configured.

i do not think that any programmes were lost and opening hidden files gave me a lot of confidence to know that they were still there.

if somebody like me can do this i would suggest that anybody faced with these problems considers the situation calmly and reads your forums and follow the more educated comments.

Thanks one again - help is a click away
