It is an Acer 8943G.

There are three versions of this.

8943G-434G32Mn

8943G-724G1TBn

8943G-728G1.28TWn

Which one is yours?

Some laptops have a "cooling mode" setting in the BIOS that can be switched between Performance and Silence/Low Power mode. Make sure this is set to Performance mode. If this setting does not exist or is already set to Performance mode, then Acer did not design the cooling system properly or one of the cooling components was defective from the factory.

BIOS is locked down, but I know it'll switch to performance mode (when its needed - i.e. the temp goes above a certain value).

In terms of the cooling components being defective, if this is the case, then it is defective from design, not from this particular build. As the laptop itself is known to suffer from overheating issues, and is known to switch into low power mode due to overheating (it's basically how they dealt with it lol).

So, I'm gonna try making this pad, and see what I end up with. To be honest, I think there is a real calling for *decent* DC powered cooling pads, because all these USB ones are terrible!! Can't wait to make it :)

Check out this cooling pad with its own power supply and 120mm fans.

I found it for sale on Amazon.
