BleepingComputer.com: navigation cancelled in IE8- not allowed into any site

dear friend(s),

i was on the net when suddenly i started facing this problem.
any website i tried to visit, i would get the following pop up message, which had a legitimate looking header of "internet security"
the message i get is:

"
The website you are visiting is infected.
Detected: Blk/Domain.191878
Infected object is Blocked.
(OK button)
"

and with this message, the window address bar would show:
"about:NavigationCanceled"


after a few trials with various sites, i tried to browse the net using my IE8 without add-ons. and it worked. i was able to browse without problem.

so obviously something has infected some IE add-on.
i am not using any toolbar.

i am using XP Professional SP3, updated with all the latest patches.

i am attaching a log of running processes etc. scanned using DDS.

i don't know what else to give as information.

i use Quick Heal anti-virus along with its own bundled firewall, which is on auto update.

i hope someone is able to help me. fast.

i was using IE8.
then one day, i was just not able to access any site through IE (see my post - forums/topic393622.html)
so i downloaded chrome on somebody's suggestion.

till yesterday things were fine.
today when i tried to login into my Facebook account i was told the password was incorrect.

so i went thru the password reset procedure but even with the new password i was denied access, saying i had entered wrong password.

then i used IE8, with a key scrambler lock i recently downloaded for safety.
i was able to re-reset the password, and also to get access to FB.

so i came back to chrome.
this time, when i entered the password, and hit log in button, the password field went blank, and the login page remained as it is.

what is happening?
please help?

i just found out that i could login into facebook thru chrome, if i used the 'incognito' window.

• If you are unable to create a log because your computer cannot start up successfully please provide detailed information about your installed Windows Operating System including the Version, Edition and if it is a 32bit or a 64bit system.
  
  • If you are unsure about any of these characteristics just post what you can and we will guide you.
  
  
• Please tell us if you have your original Windows CD/DVD available.
  
• If you are unable to perform the steps we have recommended please try one more time and if unsuccessful alert us of such and we will design an alternate means of obtaining the necessary information.
  
• If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.
  
• Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review your topic an do their best to resolve your issues.

• Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan again:

• Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.
  • DDS.scr
    
  • DDS.pif
  
  
• Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  
• A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  
• Notepad will open with the results.
  
• Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  
• Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.

Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit Scanner.

Please note that if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows you will not be able to run GMER and you may skip this step.

Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:


Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:
