Norton Antivirus 2006, full system scan

All went well seams to work fine except the flag full system scan keeps popping up. I have tryed to do a full system scan but it slows down uses 100% of processor & never finishes in 8 hrs. System is penium 4 processor 2.9 ghz, 512 ram, 200GB hard drive. Thanks if you can help.

Even though some may say it's good and all, it does not dected all viruses. Plus Bit Defender is faster by far and cheaper. If you want to go the free route, use Avast Antivirus or AVG Free. Norton, however is known to be a resource hog and can slow your system but it should be able to complete its scan. Try performing your scan in safe mode. To do this restart your computer and keep pressing the F8 key repeatedly.. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".
