Ouch! Though I am not surprised.
This is an old computer. I will search for a new MB and see if that helps me out.
I have checked all the cables and they are not loose. But I have to say these drives going out one after the other caused me to suspect the same thing. Fried.
Thanks friends!

Agree with RadioNorthSea
Check both the hard drive and cdrom cables on both ends (drive and motherboard).
Physically disconnect and reconnect the cables and make sure they are snug.
Reseat the power leads to both drives as well.
It sounds like something is loose.
Make sure that the system is unplugged when you do this.

In the beginning there was the command line.

Hi
I know this is a long time from the original post but I wanted to get back to you guys. It was indeed the motherboard. She was fried. I put all the other components, harddrives etc into another computer and they worked great.
So just wanted you to know how it turned out for me.
Thanks again
