Hello
I had to reformat a Dell Vostro 1000 laptop. It came without any discs. I tried my best to get the need drivers off of Dells website but didn't do so well. In addition to the sound, video drivers I also need the wireless driver. I have the computer up to date with SP3
Video is OK but a little wavy when scrolling through a page. I have a choice of 800 by 600 or 1024 by 768. no in between.
I don't know what other info you may need. I was able to get the Ethernet 10/100 installed but that's about it

Thanks in advance
Tom

This should be the video driver for that model.

And this should be your wifi driver. Or This.

Don't forget to install the chipset driver.

Must have been an error while downloading as it worked fine fine for me. Try re-downloading it.

Funny, I tried several times yesterday with no luck. I read your post this morning and tried again. BINGO it worked. Maybe the computer had to be restarted or something

Only thing left now with ? marks are

~Base system device
~Modem device on High Def Audio Bus
~SM Bus Controller

Thanks
Tom

You need to install the chipset driver. Look for it in Dell's driver list for your system.

I'd leave the BIOS update alone unless you have a specific reason for needing an update.

What version of the bios do you currently have and what version is the latest release?

I already updated the bios and returned the computer. Everything was working as it should. Only thing left undone was the Base System Device which had a question mark next to it
Sorry I don't have the bios version #

Thank you all for the help
Tom
