Hey, yes I am still trying to fix my problems, but I am super busy preparing for a big exam tomorrow. My boyfriend is trying to retrieve the files from the hard drive before I send it for repair.
As my hard drive failed on my main laptop, I have had to borrow one from uni to get on with my work. I connect to the internet via an ethernet cable (due to the router being rubbish, as mentioned earlier) and I have notice that Google redirects, opens new tabs and pop-ups on this laptop too. To you, what does that indicate?

To you, what does that indicate?
Both machines are infected.
The router is still the problem. Whether you connect wirelessly or via ethernet cable the connection has been altered and without resetting or replacing you are using something which is essentially infected. You should be able to reset the router via the control panel so let's try that (when you've done your exams obviously. Good luck)
Consult this link to find out what is the default username and password of your router and note down them: Router Passwords
Then reset your router to it's factory default settings:
First get to the routers server. To do that open Internet Explorer and type http:\\192.168.1.1 in the address bar and click Enter. That should get you to the login window.
Fill in the password you have already found and you will get the configuration page.
Now look for a reset function somewhere in the menu - it varies depending on the router so I can't give exact navigation
