When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

Hello,

I got infected by the Windows Restore virus. I am running Windows XP. I followed the instructions on the forum. Ran rkill and malwarebytes, however I still have no programs (start - all programs) all desktop icons are still faded. I tried to reinstall AVG but it keeps shutting down during the install process? Not sure what to do next?

Thank you,
Bob

Hi bobd652,

Can you tell me exactly which removal guide you followed?

Can you post your Malwarebytes log please?

To find your malwarebytes logs:

:step1: Open Malwareytes.
:step2: Click on the Logs tab.
You will see one or more logs that look similar to: mbam-log-2010-3-24.txt
:step3: Double click on the most recent date and that log will open in Notepad.
:step4: Copy the contents from notepad into your next post.
