BleepingComputer.com: browser redirect virus

hello, i have some issues with a virus i contracted through surfing the other day - java started itself and installed something. avira detected a virus and 'quarantined' it.

every now and then my browser randomly opens a tab and opens an advertisment. when i make a google search and click on a listed result - i am shortly after redirected to a random website which is an advertisment etc.

i have been experiencing crashes/blue screens and lockups also, which i did not have before this infection.


i came across ComboFix, where people stated it will help me.

I have downloaded it to my desktop, I read and followed the instructions on bleeping computer

everytime i open combofix the computer locks up, i cant use the mouse or keyboard. i did notice through that the clock on the taskbar still ticks away though.

what can i do to remove this infection if combo fix wont even run? (locks up when the initial loading bar reaches 80/90 percent)

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
