BleepingComputer.com: Vista problem after two windows updates

My acer laptop(vista 32 bit)is currently having a lot of problems after i installed two windows updates. I am only able to connect to the local internet on it(it constantly says it is identifying my wireless router), the diagnostics policy service is not running and every time i boot up, when i get onto my home screen i get a message saying" Windows needs to install driver software for your unknown device". I have also had a "System event notification service" error and a problem with the internet where it said something along the lines of "connection status unknown the dependency service or group failed to start".I fixed these with the following codes under CMD promt:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
net localgroup administrators localservice /add
net localgroup administrators networkservice /add
I have tried system restore to an earlier restore point and have uninstalled the updates, but the problems still persist. Any ideas as to what to do would be much appreciated(short of reseting to factory state). Help will be much appreciated!
