Do you think I should change it since the antivirus is discontinued? I won't receive new definitions until 2012.

Yes, you must use an AV with up-to-date definitions. There are several good and free AVs available.

If I play online games (downloadable, use of client; like a MMORPG), will it hurt my computer if i keep the antivirus and play? (Just curious)

I don't understand your question, what do you mean with "hurt"? Damage?

Did you ever use Symantec Endpoint Protection? (zip file is around 500 mb, so I guess the AV is over 500 mb. I wonder how the virtual memory of their real scan will take)

Really, you don't need Symantec or any other paid antivirus. You can just download Microsoft Security Essentials and turn on Windows Firewall. But if you still want a paid security suite, then I'd say go with ESET Smart Security. They both are light on resources, easy to use and great at catching viruses.

Also, no it won't cause any problems if you keep your antivirus client on and play.

Well I hope they use less virtual memory :D

By light on resources, I meant they both use less memory(RAM), CPU Power, etc. And they are also pretty snappy and fast BTW. Again as I said, go with Microsoft Security Essentials if you don't want to spend any money and just switch the Windows Firewall on. Besides there are lots of free firewall applications out there.

Firewalls
Ashampoo Firewall - DarkNight
Jetico Personal Firewall - Compatibility: Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003 Server - acklan
Kerio Personal Firewall - 3rd one down Compatibility: Windows 98/Me/NT4/2000/XP - tos226
Outpost Firewall Free - Compatibility: Windows (All)
PC Tools Firewall Plus - a powerful free personal firewall for Windows Compatibility: Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/Windows 7 - pete@21
Sunbelt Personal Firewall - Compatibility: Windows 2000 Professional (desktop version)/XP/XP Media Center Edition
Sygate Free - Compatibility: Windows (All)
Vista Firewall Control 32 bit Version - the outbound filter in Windows Vista is, in essence, turned off by default. And as a practical matter, it's impossible to manually configure it to block malware making outbound connections. That's where the free Vista Firewall Control comes in Compatibility: Windows Vista - Adamsappleone
Vista Firewall Control 64 bit Version - Compatibility: Windows Vista - Adamsappleone
ZoneAlarm Free - Compatibility: Windows 2000/XP/Vista

If you want to go with a paid security suite. Then I'd say go with ESET Smart Security. No need for Windows Firewall or any other firewall then, because ESET Smart Security has its own built-in firewall.

I don't see how this could happen. Did you have a scenario in mind?

An increase in CPU usage will not damage your CPU.
