should I do the
"I suggest that you run a chkdsk on the hard disk and check if you are still prompted to format the hard disk.
It creates and displays a status report for a disk based on the file system:
a. Right click on the command prompt and ‘Run as Administrator’.
b. At the command prompt type:
chkdsk [drive:] [/p] | [/r]
[drive:] Specifies the drive to check, this is the drive letter for your external hard disk.
/p Check even if the drive is not flagged dirty, bad.
/r Locates bad sectors and recovers readable information (implies /p). " method?
