@Darthy, no offense, but that is just as smug as Alumar was accusing me of being. I can't possibly understand, so don't even try? Really. The question was asked, do I believe that the current state of the world is some indicator of a supernaturally induced cataclysm? I said no, and I gave reasons why. Facts actually. I asked for them to be refuted, and so far that hasn't happened. So here is a question; if it is beyond the realm of mankind to understand the greater workings of the universe, then how is it that we are supposed know our place in the universe?

Complete sentences would help.... "but let's not forget that this was created not triger or start flames". But what was created?

Although in an offhand manner I was called stupid (which is sometimes true) , and as having a superiority complex (which is also sometimes true), I don't think that anyone is intentionally flaming or being flamed.

Then answer the questions that I asked. Otherwise you are not exploring anything.

Ok im going to jump in here. Groov has a point, just because something unexplainable happened does not mean its tied into some mayan calender or any other supernatural event. And yes-as some of you know, I am a christian-I do believe in the Bible. But, on that same note, even the Bible says that we won't know when the end will come, from a Biblical perspective, there is no way to prophesy the exact end of the world. From a pure scientific, non biblical note, theres no real way to know. why, because as it is been pointed out, wars and natural disasters have been going on since the world began, and there is no way to know whether said event was "prophesied" or just a coincidence. I donbt hold any faith to some ancient stone calender, that reasonably, logically, there is absolutly no way they could continue on indefinetly forever, that it had to end sometime, and it wasnt because they knew the end of the world. Especially since, the mayans didnt write THE WORLD ENDS HERE they just didnt continue the calender. . .as far as numbers, i dont see much evidence of that either.

I certainly will back up Groovicus on what he is saying.

Speak Easy is one of my favourite Forums because people came here to Debate/Argue their particular points without fear of being flamed or insulted, provided that they stick to the generious Rules applied.

BTW, Debate and Argue means exactly the same in English for our Members that have English as their second language.

I think that the point Groovicus is trying to make could well be covered here in this or other parts on the Link? Maybe Groovicus can enlighten us?

Deductive arguments
Main article: Deductive argument

A deductive argument is one which, if valid, has a conclusion that is entailed by its premises. In other words, the truth of the conclusion is a logical consequence of the premises—if the premises are true, then the conclusion must be true. It would be self-contradictory to assert the premises and deny the conclusion, because the negation of the conclusion is contradictory to the truth of the premises.

A follow up to my Post number 18.

It really shows that Mankind has absolutely no answer to Mother Nature/Earth, dependent on you Belief, in any way when things like this happen. Numbers and superstition have nothing to do with it.

Japan's worst crisis since WW2

Kan said in a televised national address that Japan was facing its worst crisis since the end of World War II -- which left the defeated country in ruins.

``The current situation of the earthquake, tsunami and the nuclear plants is in a way the most severe crisis in the 65 years since World War II,'' said the premier, who was dressed in an emergency services suit.

``Whether we Japanese can overcome this crisis depends on each of us.''

Much more here.

QUOTE Darthy---These kind of things are far from human reason Groovicus. Wait and see for yourself.

Darthy or anyone.....who gets to decide what is beyond human reasoning?

On the same note if it is something supernatural, how are you supposed to know? You have some kind of connection to the god to know that just because some calender made by an ancient civilization, with no other known prophecies about the end of the world other then this calender which just happens to end. Supernatural or not, there's no way to know if this was do to some kind of prophecy or its just one of those things that happen there's no way to know for sure.

That being said people have been predicting the end of the world repeatedly the past few centuries and have been pretty consistantly wrong, and natural disasters have been going on just as consistantly, without any predictability, so the evidence that this natural disaster is just that-a natural disaster, is pretty strong.
