i'll have to work again tomorrow. it's hard to get it done with so little time. after that, i should have a few days off in a row. :)

ThunderZ,

no problem. fortunately (sort of) i learned the bad news about the ask toolbar early on. i've had plenty of time to benefit from it (always stay away from ANYTHING 'ask').

Mike,

thanks for the review. i went up in the computer storage and got a 4pin socket so i can make my corsair tx750 psu work and i'll solder up the 4pin to molex cable tonight.

i just checked the speedfan temps and they look fine. the computer has also booted up several times without error as well :)

That is good :thumbup2:

i want to thank everybody who helped me.

i replaced the bestec psu with the corsair. there is no noticeable difference between the two. i think this suggests that the bestec was functional. nice to have another psu.

the computer has booted numerous times now and no more error messages. the speedfan and hardware monitor info is almost identical. the computer is working nice and boring. :)

i wish i knew how to mark the thread as solved, because i'm confident the problem has been fixed.

thank you. thank you. :) :)
