I am trying to put an old ATI 2400 Pro graphics card in a Dell Precision 350. The service tag # is GDL5S21. I am having a horrible time finding the driver for the card. When I go to ATI's website, the have one available, but it doesn't work. I have tried allowing the setup to install and installing the extracted driver manually. No dice.
Any help would be awesome!!
Thanks in advance!

Just what happens?

What operating system is on the Dell?

It appears that the driver installs. No error messages. It even had me restart the first time I "installed" it. When the computer rebooted, I checked the device manager and the display driver is still listed under "other devices". It is listed as "Video controller (VGA compatible)".
The OS is Windows XP Pro SP 3.
Thank you for looking into this!

this sounds like you need to install motheboard chipset drivers first

I have to ask. You are sure it is an ATI card(?).

Yeah, I just swapped it between computers... Unfortunately, the PC that the card came from was disposed of before I could even check the HD for the driver (think it was dead anyway). Also, I checked dell for the driver of the video card for that PC and it turns out, it was put in later. Of course the driver disk is long gone.

Did you go through add\remove to see if the previous software\drivers were uninstalled?

In Device Manager, there is absolutely no Display Driver shown. Usually third down in the list without expanding any of the + symbols.
