When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

win32 heur virus False positive or not?

Hey, I'm new and I really need some help.

Just yesterday I turned on my computer. And I go to play my BRAND NEW dead space 2 which I just bought from game stop less than a week ago. To my dismay AVG free has told me it has detected a virus.

The 'Threat detected' pop-up shows up and tells me that my dead space 2.exe is infected, so I send it to the virus vault. BUT, there is also a file called win32 heur that could not be put into the virus vault!

Now AVG keeps popping up and saying various program EXES are infected. So far its only done it twice. I got a little nervous so I booted into safe mode and tried to google the answer to this strange problem.

Nothing!

So please, I need some help! :[
I have a major presentation that requires parts to be typed up... due in two days! I need to confirm if this is a false positive
because I don't want my PC destroyed... I am booted on safe mode with networking at the moment.

I am on Win 7 64bit.

Did AVG provide a specific file(s) name associated with the malware threat(s) detection and if so, where is it located (full file path) at on your system?

With that information you can get a second opinion, by submitting the file(s) to one of the following online services that analyzes suspicious files:
In the "File to upload & scan" box, browse to the location of the suspicious file and submit (upload) it for scanning/analysis.
