i need help setting up an in home network i am trying to connect 2 computers to share files

i recently purchased a toshiba satelite laptop running windows 7,and is connected to my router via wirless,i want to connect to my sony vaio running xp that is also using the same router but uses a cable to connect...i am illiterate when it comes to networking,and i hate haveing to transfer file via a 2 gig flash drive..what is my best option..please help..and thank you in advance
