loads bios and basic screen but goes blank after ,tryed to use F8 to go to safemode stoped half way

DELL LABTOP
LATITUDE D610
loads DELL screen but goes blank after ,tryed to use F8 to go to safemode stoped half way.

What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?
