My LCD looks like this on bootup.

I have been having trouble on bootup for awhile. I have searched for weekd on the posts trying everything posible. I could not get windows to reistal so I put in a new hard drive. Reinstaled windows again thinking this would fix all the problems for good. All was good for a short time and back to the same thing again. It try to bootup and this is what I get on my screen. Anyone have any idea?

System manufacturer and model?

What kinds of trouble...were you previously experiencing?

Dell D630 with windows xp SP3. I have all kind of erors. It gives a diferent one every time it seems. I though a new hard drive and fresh instal would fix everything but its back to the same again.

I got eror code 0146 at first. Thats why I replaced the hard drive. That still didnt fix it.

I assume this is not a laptop.
Pls post the manufacturer of the monitor.

I saw this exact thing last summer.
It really had be baffled for a while too!

Use the buttons on the monitor (either on the front or on the side) to bring up the on screen display.
Look around in there for an option that says something like restore manufacturers default settings, reset or something like that and reset it.

Looks like somehow the horizontal has gotten out of whack.
Resetting the monitor should take care of it.

I thought I had it there!

Does the Dell splash screen on system startup appear the same way?
Also, go into the BIOS on startup & see how it looks there.

What kind of errors are you getting?
Pretty much a hardware issue if you replaced the hard drive & did a clean install of Windows.

Well..if this was a desktop, I would suggest replacing the CMOS battery before I assumed that the error message is correct. I've seen failing CMOS batteries result in all sorts of unwarranted error messages on my systems, it took me awhile to figure out that so many hardware components could not possibly be going bad at the same time
