Disable Google toolbar?

I am running Zorin-OS-4 + Firefox and was wondering how to disable the Google toolbar. All attempts have so far failed?

Have you tried Right Clicking in an empty space on the toolbar and take the tick out of Google Toolbar?
WinXP sp3, IE8, MSE, MBAM, SAS, SpywareBlaster

Disable the add-on (Firefox - Tools - Add-Ons)
